I grew up in New York City where I was touched
by the natural world only peripherally through pigeons, guppies,
and manicured parks, and where I thought it normal that
when you blew your nose, black came out.
I decided to raise my own children in a healthier setting near
Cape Cod. Living near the ocean taught me about the
physical and spiritual bond we have to the Earth, and as land
began to develop faster every day, I unwittingly became a Conservationist.
|
I taught High School Sciences for several years, and
was able to share my insights and philosophy from that arena. I have
been active in starting and running recycling programs, river
clean-ups, adopt-a-highway programs, have been involved
in local politics and (inter)national conservation groups all
my adult life. I use only natural medicine,
have been Vegan for 35+ years, and as I've grow older have developed
an even deeper connection to this lovely planet we call home. I've
lived in rural areas for the last 20 years or so and in Northwest
North Carolina for about 15. I've seen rapid and disrespectful "progress" rampant
in these parts, and want to do something to maintain (if not
restore) the land; the rivers; the trees; the animal habitats;
the old-timey farms; and some of the cultures of the early people. I
am honored to be able to assist the Blue Ridge Rural Land Trust in
fulfilling its mission any way I can.
