Helping preserve what nature has provided, especially here in the mountains, is the responsibility of everyone. Whether our interest is in preserving farm lands for future generations to cultivate or if we are concerned about leaving green space to be enjoyed by those who will follow behind us, I feel a strong need to become involved.

Through the efforts of the Blue Ridge Rural Land Trust and its achievement in preserving land and bringing it to the attention of folks in our area and beyond, a positive difference can occur.

At a young age, I was exposed to many wonderful things by a grandfather who loved trees, farm land and the mountains. By him sharing this with me, it helped create my own interest that has continued into my adulthood. I am fortunate that this interest continues, and being able to be a small part of a big effort will give me much satisfaction in the future.

Through the Blue Ridge Rural Land Trust, I see a means for becoming involved in something that not only is very important personally, but also as something I can be involved with to help make my little corner of the world a better place for myself, my family and for future generations.
